How Promotion Incentives and Environmental Regulations Affect China’s Environmental Pollution?

As for the academics and policymakers, more attention has been given to issue on how reduce environmental pollution through cooperation of regulation local officials’ promotion incentives. With use a city-level panel data 266 Chinese cities from 2005 2016, this study preliminary explores impacts regulations, incentives, their interaction terms urban at national regional levels by using spatial Durbin model. The results indicate that regulations incentives have achieved desired goal with other’s cooperation, term’s coefficients are significantly negative. Moreover, heterogeneity is established, uneven development among different regions deserves attention. In order effectively level in China, government should focus such solutions as enhancing implementation supervision efficiency regulation, optimizing performance appraisal system officials, improving synergistic effects establishing multi-scale mechanism based both geographical economic correlations.
